The Class of 2024 from Reddam House’s Gauteng schools – Reddam House Waterfall, Reddam House Bedfordview, and Reddam House Helderfontein – has achieved stellar results in the Independent Examinations Board (IEB) National Senior Certificate (NSC) exams. Together, these schools delivered an impressive 549 subject distinctions from 232 students, with an average of 2.4 distinctions per student, a 100% pass rate and a 98% Bachelor’s Degree pass rate.
A total of 65 students achieved four or more distinctions, demonstrating the commitment to academic excellence that is a hallmark of Reddam House schools.
22 students placed in the IEB rankings
Within Reddam House’s Gauteng schools, five students received placements in the IEB’s Outstanding and Commendable rankings. Mirela Hoffman from Reddam House Bedfordview achieved a national ranking within the top 5% in six or more subjects, placing her on the IEB Outstanding Achievement List. Four students – three from Reddam House Bedfordview, Kent Allan, Madison Ferrãó and Kezia Walton, and one from Reddam House Waterfall, Molebogeng Madalane – were listed on the IEB’s Commendable Achievement List for achieving a national ranking within the top 5% in five subjects.
Within the IEB’s list of achievers in the Top 1% of subjects, 19 Reddam House students achieved this prestigious national ranking in a total of 25 subjects. The top achievers were Mirela Hoffman from Reddam House Bedfordview, who achieved a 1% ranking in three subjects, and four students who achieved a 1% ranking in two subjects – Taalia Sheoprosad from Reddam House Helderfontein and Kent Allan, Amber Latten and Kezia Walton, all from Reddam House Bedfordview. Fourteen students achieved a ranking in one subject – from Reddam House Helderfontein, Anele Mpofu; from Reddam House Waterfall, Luke McGee, Sovann Naidoo, Molebogeng Madalane, Sahir Dharamlall and Shyal Rajpal; and from Reddam House Bedfordview, Matthew Bell, Kelsey da Silva, Madison Ferrãó, Keira Hale, Mpho Kubheka, Chelsey Marks, Muhammad Patel and Zihao Xu.
Reddam House Bedfordview
- 314 distinctions were achieved by the class of 117 students, with an average of 2.7 distinctions per student.
- 86 students achieved either an A or B aggregate, representing 74% of the cohort.
- 25% of students achieved an A aggregate.
Top achievers:
- Four students with eight distinctions: Mirela Hoffman (91% average, with 98% in Mathematics, 93% in English and LO, 94% in isiZulu), Kent Allan (90% average with over 90% in Mathematics, English, Business Studies, Life Orientation, and Life Sciences), Mitchell Kathan (86% average with over 90% for LO and Business Studies) and Matthew Bell (89% average and over 90% for Physical Sciences, Geography, Accounting and Mathematics)
- Six students with seven distinctions: Kezia Walton (average of 91% with over 90% in LO, Mathematics, isiZulu, Business Studies and Geography), Madison Ferrão, Gino Anic, Anele Mpofu, Muhammad Patel, Zoë Pye, Yashodhan Naidoo. A massive achievement was recorded by Muhammed Patel, who achieved 100% for Mathematics.
Reddam House Waterfall
- 152 distinctions were achieved by the class of 64 students, with an average of 2.4 distinctions per student.
- 24% of students achieved an A aggregate.
Top achievers:
- One student with eight distinctions: Molebogeng Madalane (91% average and over 90% achieved in Mathematics (97%), LO, isiZulu (95%) and French (90%).
- Four students with seven distinctions: Sahir Dharamlall (87.9% average), Laylah Julie, Luke McGee (with 96% for history), and Vashti Pillay.
Reddam House Helderfontein
- 83 distinctions were achieved by the class of 51 students.
- 100% of students achieved a Bachelor’s Degree pass rate, with a 100% Pass Rate.
Top achievers:
- Anele Mpofu achieved seven distinctions and an average of 87%, with exceptional results in isiXhosa and Mathematics Lit.
- Enzo Andrighetto earned 90% in Mathematics.
Celebrating individual excellence
This year’s results were defined by not only academic excellence but also inspiring personal stories.
- Shreeya Govender, a courageous student from Reddam House Waterfall who has been undergoing dialysis three times a week while awaiting a kidney transplant, achieved a distinction. Her perseverance and determination are a testament to her incredible resilience and drive to succeed.
- Anele Mpofu at Reddam House Helderfontein, lived the school’s motto of “We shall give back” for her outstanding community outreach efforts while excelling academically.
National contributions
The Gauteng schools’ achievements contributed significantly to the 1,178 subject distinctions and 97% Bachelor Degree pass rate achieved across all eight Reddam House schools nationally.
